In a world of constant change and information overload, coaches are increasingly asked to help clients find clarity, focus, and meaningful action. In this session, we’ll explore how combining Visual Thinking with an Agile Mindset can give you practical tools to support that process.

You’ll discover how simple drawings, visual frameworks, and small iterative experiments can help clients “see” their goals, obstacles, and options more clearly. We’ll look at real examples from coaching and facilitation, and you’ll leave with ready-to-use visuals that you can bring into your own sessions—whether you coach leaders, teams, or individuals.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

How an Agile Mindset can make coaching conversations more dynamic, experimental, and action-oriented.

But the right question can do much more - unlock breakthroughs, spark action, and align clients with their deepest values.

In this masterclass, renowned coach Laura Berman Fortgang reveals how to turn questioning into a powerful art form, blending insights from psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral change. You'll learn how strategic inquiry can create profound shifts in thinking, feeling, and action.

Key Takeaways
• The Neuroscience of Questions: Discover how transformational questions rewire the brain, unlock creativity, and break limiting beliefs.

• The Question Hierarchy: Move from surface-level queries to deep, transformational questions that inspire action and alignment.

• Advanced Techniques: Master the Challenge Frame, Solution-Finding Method, Values Excavation, and Resistance Dissolution techniques.

• Practical Applications: Apply strategic inquiry in coaching, leadership, team building, business development, and personal relationships.

The Experience

Through live exercises and role-play, you’ll refine your questioning style, receive real-time feedback, and create a toolkit of powerful questions for coaching breakthroughs.

The Ripple Effect
Masterful questions create lasting change. Your clients will gain deeper insights, take aligned actions, and build confidence - while you’ll transform every interaction, from leadership conversations to personal relationships.

Why book this session?
With Laura’s decades of expertise and cutting-edge research, this session equips you with actionable strategies to elevate your coaching and communication. The right question at the right moment doesn’t just gather information - it changes lives.

Thanks to a major 10-year grant through the National Science Foundation we now have research that demonstrates the power of arts-based experiential learning to do exactly that!

Roll up your sleeves!

An understanding of the theory and science behind Arts-Based Experiential Learning (ABEL)

Practical examples of arts-based experiential exercises immediately implementable in a coaching relationship

Introduction to a breakthrough method for measuring impact of coaching and training on clients.

DESCRIPTION:

Every coach is hearing about AI right now — but most of what's out there is hype, not evidence. Olivier cuts through the noise with a research-backed synthesis of what AI coaching actually does, where it works, where it doesn't, and the necessary ethical guardrails.

Then things get hands-on. Olivier will walk through real use cases — including how AI is already functioning as an AI coaching support tool — before guiding you through building your own personal AI coaching tool, live, during the session. You will use your preferred AI tool such as Claude or ChatGPT, and learn how to integrate external tools directly within it. No coding background needed. You'll leave not only understanding AI coaching but also with a working tool in hand.

Whether you're AI-curious or already experimenting, this session will sharpen how you think about — and use — AI in your practice.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
What you’ll walk away with:
- A grounded understanding of what the research says about AI in coaching
- A map of how the AI coaching market is currently structured
- Concrete use cases
- Key ethical considerations for using AI in your coaching practice
- Your own personal AI tool, built hands-on during the session

DESCRIPTION:

How do you bring your authentic self to coaching and still demonstrate the MCC qualities of being with the human you are coaching? "Everyone who develops mastery starts off in a beginner's mind. And those who continue to evolve masterfully stay in the beginner's mind the whole of their lives." Let’s discuss the fundamentals of coaching and how to use the ICF competencies as the launching point for mastery. Once you integrate your understanding, you then have the freedom to dance in your coaching conversations. Supporting your clients to explore transformational places. Observe a 20-minute coaching demonstration. Linking the coach’s questions to the MCC BARS and PCC Markers. Afterward, break out into groups to debrief the coaching demonstration with each other. Then, come back and pick Lyssa’s mind for her choice points. Make connections between the questions and the competencies.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Explore what FULL Partnership means. Deepen your understanding of the competencies. See how the coaching container weaves the competencies: agreement setting, building trust, coaching presence, listening actively, evoking awareness, and facilitating growth. Observe an MCC Coach demonstrate the competencies through a real coaching conversation. Debrief on your insights.

Explore a practical framework for introducing neuroscience concepts into coaching sessions.

Examine why emotional humility is foundational to effective emotional management.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Kelly Kent, PhD.
Kelly Kent is a neuroscientist that connects her passion for the brain with all of her work, including as a school board member, corporate creativity consultant, business-owner, speaker, and her hardest job of them all, parent.

Since she completed her Ph.D. in the molecular mechanisms of stroke recovery in 2011, Kelly has been taking her experience and expertise garnered at higher educational institutions and applying them to the real world around her. While on the one hand, Kelly was pursuing her post-graduate work in autism at the University of Southern California, she was also simultaneously teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Kelly taught psychology undergraduate students at Moorpark College in Simi Valley and currently teaches neurobiology to psychotherapy graduate students at Antioch University in Culver City.

The application of neuroscience to everyday life became her primary focus when Kelly co-founded adaptED Consultants. Through adaptED, Kelly has grown a company that uses neuroscience to provide tools to drive individual and organizational growth. This is accomplished by aligning corporate work cultures with how the brain functions optimally, training leaders to manage with the brain in mind and helping organizations determine their own “brain-based” best practices.

Realizing the important role that coaches play in the organizational development and professional development world, Kelly approached Master Certified Coach, Hayden Lee to propose a neuroscience of coaching training program. With recognition of the value each respective field plays in enhancing human and organizational potential, Master Mind Institute was born.

Hayden Lee MCC
Hayden Lee is a Master Certified Executive Leadership Coach, holding the highest credential possible in the professional coaching industry. He co-founded Master Mind Institute, a partnership with neuroscientists to merge brain science and professional coaching to more effectively serve leaders and organizations.
Seen as an industry expert and chosen as one of the “Top 20 Best Coaches in Los Angeles,” by Expertise.com, Hayden works with high-achieving executives, senior leaders, and their teams who are ready to make the changes needed for exponential growth in their personal and professional lives. He has coached leaders and teams from top companies like Google, X the Moonshot Factory, Meta, TikTok, Lyft, Cloud Imperium Games, FanDuel, Match.com, and many more.

He is an international Enneagram master coach and uses the Enneagram system to embolden executives and their teams to go from good to extraordinary. He is on the faculty at Integrative Enneagram Solutions and Leadership Education for Asian Pacific’s (LEAP). Hayden co-created the ICF-accredited course, Information for Transformation: The Neuroscience of Coaching. He is on the Advisory Board at Coach Training EDU, an ICF-accredited institution, where he co-created the Executive Life Coach Training Program.

As a highly sought-after speaker, trainer and facilitator, he has spoken at or led trainings at TEDx, UC Berkeley, National Association of Asian American Professionals, Nielsen, CAUSE, Association of Talent Development, the International Enneagram Conference in Cape Town, South Africa and many more.

Their Map, Their Investment: Leveraging Language to Facilitate Client Growth (ICF San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Hosting) (Wed, December 09, 2026)

This is a 2-STEP registration process.

Since this webinar is being offered by ICF Global, registration requires a two-step process.

The first step is to register with our chapter. Once you successfully register and make the payment, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to register with ICF Global. Payment is only required during the first step. The second step authorizes ICF Global to send you the Zoom link for the webinar.

Ensure you complete the second step of the Zoom registration. If you do not, you will not receive the Zoom link or the recording. It is your responsibility to register with ICF Global.

1.5 Core Competency CCEs

DESCRIPTION:

Words have the power to shape not only our perception of reality, but also how we engage with the world around us. In this 90-minute experiential workshop, attendees will explore how the vocabulary coaches and clients use can foster a spirit of curiosity and action. Ultimately, the goal with our clients is to co-create an accessible map they’re excited to use, not an overwhelming obstacle course they’re never able to start.

Participants will experiment with techniques to help clients strategically choose what to put on their map. They’ll learn to harness language as a tool for cultivating a more proactive, goal-oriented mindset, and for helping clients recognize blind spots and gaps in their planning. A central theme of this workshop is that facilitating client growth isn't a checkbox confined to the final minutes — it runs through every part of a coaching conversation, drawing on the full range of ICF core competencies.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

-Identify opportunities to facilitate growth throughout the entire arc of client conversations

-Implement techniques to help clients create a robust plan for post-session activation

-Transform action planning into an experience that drives motivation

Since this webinar is being offered by ICF Global, registration requires a two-step process.

The first step is to register with our chapter.

1.5 Core Competency CCEs
In this interactive session, participants will revisit the essentials of Active Listening and explore how these foundations directly impact the coaching relationship. Drawing upon the presenter’s experience in coaching and education, this session will clarify the common barriers to effective listening and highlight why deep listening is so vital to coaching success.
The session will also include a practical look at how ICF Competency 6 shows up in real-world conversations, identifying the small shifts that turn regular hearing into truly transformational listening. Through quick breakouts and lighthearted exercises, coaches will have the opportunity to align with these markers and sharpen their existing skills in a high-energy environment.

This is an educational, reflective, and experiential session designed to support coaches in refreshing their core skills, regardless of their current level of experience.

3 Learning Objectives
Align their coaching practice with ICF Competency 6 markers, specifically focusing on the subtle shifts that move a conversation from simple hearing to transformational listening.

Differentiate between "functional hearing" and "transformational listening," identifying the specific behaviors that move a coach beyond simple information gathering toward deeper resonance.

Cultivate an adaptive coaching mindset by using lighthearted, high-energy interaction to overcome common listening barriers and maintain presence in a virtual environment.
